If you’ve read a few of my posts you’ll notice one of my most used ingredients is maple syrup, I love the stuff. I always make sure we have loads of back up and hide a stash in the basement next to the wine, just in case one of the kids should decide to guzzle it one morning while I’m not looking.
Maple syrup is a great plant-based alternative to refined sugar its has a lower glycemic index and has over 54 antioxidants -unlike the white processed stuff! I’ve ate tested loads of sweetners and Maple syrup is at the top of my list. Something else at the top of my list these days is my new cookbook obsession Deliciously Ella Every Day. I pre-ordered it a few months ago on Amazon and was pleasantly suprised when it arrived last week. I love getting goodies on the door step from amazon, I don’t love the loud “knock as loud as I can person” who drops it off. (Why is it always at lil’ gingers nap time?)
I have the first book Deliciously Ella and it’s one of my weekly go-to’s the recipes are simple, healthy and so darn good. This book tops the first in my eyes, it’s full of even more plant- based simple recipes.I like recipes that are easy to read and don’t have a tonne of ingredients… I have a very busy little family and not a lot of kitchen time. I don’t have time for a 20 step recipe with ingredients I can’t find in a regular grocery store.
Overall this book is a must read and its easy on the eyes too! Gorgeous photography. I tried a couple of the smoothies, main dishes and of course desserts! This dessert stood out to me because after doing a detox for the last ten days I was aching for something rich, chocolatey and of course made with maple syrup! Chocolate hazelnut tarts. Yes! Yes! And yes! These tarts hit the spot, great with a tall glass of my fave non-dairy milk… coconut milk.
